This page explains, in plain words, what The Fantasy Stories collects, why, and what we never do. If anything is unclear, email us at thefantasystories@outlook.com.

Who this site is for

The Fantasy Stories is a free library of original bedtime stories for children aged about 3 to 8. It is written for parents, carers and teachers to read aloud, or to play with the Listen button. Children are welcome to listen, but we never ask a child for any information, and the site has no accounts, no comments and no chat.

What we collect and why

  • Your email address, only if a grown-up joins the Sunday Story Club. We use it to send our story emails and nothing else. Sign-ups are confirmed by email (double opt-in), and every email has an unsubscribe link. The list is held by our email provider, MailerLite.
  • Anonymous reading statistics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which stories are read and listened to, so we know what to write next. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies are switched off and only cookieless, aggregated measurement is used.
  • Ordinary server logs. Our host, Hostinger, keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and running.

The Listen button uses the voice built into your own phone, tablet or computer. Nothing is recorded, and no audio is sent to us or anyone else.

What we never do

  • We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children (under 13 in the US, under 16 in the EU and UK). If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
  • We don’t show targeted ads, build profiles, or sell or share your data.
  • We don’t have user accounts or comments.

Who helps us run the site

  • MailerLite (EU) stores Story Club email addresses and sends our emails.
  • Google (Google Analytics 4) provides reading statistics. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
  • Hostinger hosts the website and its cache.

How long we keep things

  • Email addresses: until you unsubscribe; then they are deleted within 30 days.
  • Analytics data: 14 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Server logs: kept by Hostinger for a short period under its own policy.

Cookies

Outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics may set two cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to count visits. Inside those regions it sets none. WordPress sets cookies only for our own team when logged in. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time; the stories work the same without them.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email us and we’ll reply within 30 days. In the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO). Parents in the US can ask us to review or delete anything relating to their child.

Keeping data safe

The site runs on HTTPS, we collect as little as possible, and only the site team can reach the email list and statistics.

Changes

If we change how we use information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Big changes will also be mentioned in the Story Club email.
